38 Studios was basically bribed away from its original location in Massachusetts to relocate in Providence, RI. Back in 2010 the state of RI worked out a deal with Schilling that would loan $75 million in taxpayer dollars to the fledgling business if it came here and hired residents. There was of course much debate over the wisdom of lending so much money to a company with zero track record.
Now it appears that the opponents of such a risky loan - me included - were right. 38 Studios has defaulted on its loan, by missing a $1.25 million dollar payment due May 1. Today he met with state officials in order to essentially beg the state of Rhode Island to loan even more money to keep the company afloat. This is where the hypocrisy goes into overdrive;
Back in 2011, Schilling had this to say about government bailouts -
"There can be no question our country is in the worst economic crisis of
our lifetimes. I also think there can be no question that it falls on
us, the individuals, to find a way out of our own personal crisis." -- Curt Schilling, February 2011

That doesn't include any earnings from broadcasting or other things. I'd like to think that a person with that much money, and with his documented political positions on government bailouts, would actually stand behind his words, but he doesn't. This is why he's not just a hypocrite, but a douchebag too. He has the financial means to fix his problem but he won't. Even though he's publicly stated that doing what he's doing is something he's opposed to. How do you reconcile that with yourself?

Why don't you ask bush for the money, since you kissed his ballsack thru his campaign. Which in turn, is WHY this country is in the fiscal misery it is in. Funding those stupid fucking wars that had no clear objective. We could have used that money to help with the inevitable housing downturn.(reminder to the robotic republican mindless minions: Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11)! Get you own ass out of hot water schilling! Remember? individual responibility!!!!!!!!!!! you putz!
INDIVIDUAL RESPONSIBILITY!!! jerk off
Like so many right wingers, Schilling is completely delusional about himself, so he sees nothing to reconcile. This man has a freakin' god complex--that is, he thinks he is one. Or should be. Why else did he want to become "Bill Gates rich"? He wants the god-like power that comes with that. http://www.bostonmagazine.com/articles/2012/07/38-studios-end-game/#comment-333471
